We’re going to ask for your help with something.
You don’t have to ask anyone for money, and you don’t have to reach into your own pocket. We’ll cover that part.
All we’re asking you to do is help us find people in our community that could use a little love and kindness right now. We want to throw them a good turn, and maybe give them a chance to breathe, or put a smile on their face, even if it’s just for a little while.
We’re a small place, so we can’t build someone a house or anything, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do some good in our world. We can do a lot actually, even if it’s just 50 times in the next 4 weeks.
Me, Jenn, and the rest of the Koehn & Koehn Band are hooking up with Chix 4 a Cause in hopes that we can start a tiny revolution of kindness in the midst of these crazy, tense times.
We’re calling it “50 Random Acts of Kindness” and we’d like your help to get it off the ground and make it awesome. (BTW, we chose Chix 4 a Cause because their Gifts of Love program is proof that local can be cool…and make a difference. Frankly it’s an inspiration and something West Bend should be proud of.)
50 Random Acts of Kindness
Let’s spend the month of October granting 50 Acts of Kindness to people right here in our backyard. Let’s make it fun…let’s make it meaningful. Let’s do this! ~Jenn Koehn
And so we are.
The rules are simple*:
- Go to our Facebook page and tell us what we can do to help brighten someone’s day or help them out a little bit. (You can email Jenn directly if you’d rather keep it private.)
- It can cost money, but not more than $100. (Again, we’re going to cover that.)
- It doesn’t have to have anything to do with jewelry, but it can.
- Keep checking our Facebook page for 50RAK stories and updates, and SHARE them to help spread the word.
- Do your own random acts of kindness. (By all means share it on our wall if you’re extra proud of what you’ve done.)
The kind of things we’ll fund or arrange to get done:
It can be a simple meal prepared for a family because mom has an infusion and can’t get back in time to make dinner.
There are people who are injured and can’t rake their leaves, so we’ll get someone out there to do it.
Maybe someone needs a baby sitter one night because, “since this whole thing started,” they haven’t had a chance to go out and be a couple anymore.
Those are the kinds of things we’re looking for, and hoping to take care of, at least once.
The world seems so tense and unforgiving and short these days. What ever happened to good old fashioned neighborliness and community? We think it’s alive and well in West Bend and we want to keep it going…maybe even notch it up a bit.
With your help…I think we can make it happen.
As Jenn says, “Let’s do this.”
*Our rules are simple, but not exhaustive. We will consider every submission, but we need to be selective and the final decision as to who we will be able to help is up to us. Please honor the spirit of this endeavor, and be nice and understanding if we decide we can’t honor a request. We want to do some nice things for some people who can use a little boost. We reserve the right to stop the 50 Random Acts of Kindness whenever we want.
